Fun day! Time with family and friends is such a cherished thing! Today Josh and i were able to get some much needed rest and time together. :) of course, i woke up in dreamland and was tired from chasing Alice in Wonderland and the Cheshire Cat around a bouncy house for pictures and autographs..lol... thats how the beautiful day began - in classic Cynthia fashion...but in the real world, the day was somewhat chilly and windy, and with very interesting clouds. It made for a nice day on the roof. Yes....on the roof. Josh and i put up Charlie Brown Christmas lights (for the first time in our married life) around the roof line of our house. Being on the roof today immediately brought back memories of times in 4th and 5th grade... I can vividly remember dad telling me that i had to find somewhere to go - outside somewhere.... (this memory makes me smile!) it wasn't that he didn't want to be around me, but he was getting tired of hearing my incessant playing of my plastic recorder for school. so, i followed directions and went outside... The ladder was at the back of the house because we had been cleaning out leaves in the gutters. and of course, what better place to go to play my recorder than on top of the roof of our garage. I sat there and played until nearly dark (and it may have been better for my dad, but not so sure my neighbors appreciated me! HA!) .... this specific flashback was of a day much like today... a crisp, beautiful day. and the world still seemed asleep... This morning it felt like it was just Josh and me... that the rest of Bells was still in slumber. Thank you Lord for sweet memories of my childhood and such sweet time with my husband.
Tonight we were able to spend time with his parents for dinner at Red Lobster. I just have to say that I could not be more blessed to have such a fun, encouraging, loving, godly second set of parents. I'm afraid most days I make a fool out of myself in conversation because I can't seem to think first before I talk... But oh well. There was a lot of laughter tonight, even if at my own expense. What a privilege it is to be around people who care so much for you and know pray for you daily. I think about so many friends that I have that have so much stress from their relationships with their in-laws and I simply am a blessed woman. Cindy and John Simmons are fantastic. I am blessed enough to have my own wonderful parents, but to have wonderful in-laws as well? I am doubly blessed... (and add in some cheesy garlic biscuits.... OH MY! what a good evening! lol) Josh, Cindy, and I also had a little time before dinner to do some shopping for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. (Stay tuned for an entry on this...What a joy to participate in this ministry with my family and with my church family!)
After dinner one of my best buddies came to help decorate for Christmas. It has become an annual affair... this year makes yr 3! So thankful to have her back in close geographic proximity. Okay, so I have to say that I am not rushing Thanksgiving away, but I love love love Christmas and decorating for the season. (and if i dont start soon, its not going to get done) Karen Tankersley Sinclair, I love ya girl! Thank you for being silly with me! Swinging lights in classic "white girl" dance moves to Destiny's Child Christmas and being serenaded by Dave Barnes and having DB extravaganzaa-ish photo time.... FUNNNN TIMESS with my forever friend !
I'm not too sure where i would be in life without so many wonderful friends and family members. To have ONE good friend would be great, BUT i have many! To you ALL, (who are too many to mention right this second, but beware! you might be blogged about in the future! haha!) thank you for being a part of my life. The Lord has a specific purpose for you. Thank you for what you have meant and continue to mean to me!
much <3......
